My Journey
I’ve always dreamed of traveling the world. When I was 12, I put up a huge map in my bedroom, and I put an X on every single country that I wanted to visit one day. I probably had over 50 countries marked off on that map. Every single day, I would look at the map in my room and dream of the life that I wanted one day. When I turned 18, I applied for my passport and I remember it being one of the most exciting moments of my life, up until that point. I’m the first person in my immediate family to ever get a passport, and at 19, I became the first person in my family to leave the country. I was so excited to begin the life of my dreams, but I remember also being extremely scared, confused, and overwhelmed. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I remember spending hours scouring the internet, trying to find as many resources as I could so I could be prepared for my adventure.
Now, 10 years and 38 countries later, I want to be a resource for others! I want to take everything that I’ve learned over the years and share it with anyone who needs it. I want to make travel accessible for those on a budget, those who have never traveled before, and those who might not see themselves represented as “that traveller” on social media (you all know what I’m talking about!). In the past 10 years I’ve done it all- studied abroad, solo traveled, backpacked, two Working Holiday Visas, language schools, volunteered abroad, and so on. I’ve learned A LOT the hard way, and now I have a ton of knowledge (from my own experience, not AI!) that want to share with all of you!
About Me
Hi, I’m Jessi! I’m born and raised in Miami, Florida. I’ve started over- A LOT. When I was 25 I moved to Los Angeles, when I was 27 I moved to Australia, and now at 29 I’m living in New Zealand. I’ve backpacked all through Europe and Southeast Asia, and me and my partner are currently planning our next backpacking trip to Central and South America. When I lived in the states, I worked as a teacher, then as a recruiter for an Education Company. I’m what they call a corporate dropout, quitting corporate America to live out my dream of backpacking the world!
